How to record your screen
- If you want sound, turn on “Record audio (system / shared tab)” first. It cannot be added once recording has started.
- Click “Start recording” and choose a screen, a window, or a browser tab to capture in the prompt your browser shows.
- A timer counts the elapsed time while you record. Press “Stop” on the page, or the browser’s own share bar, when you are done.
- Preview the result and download the video file.
When to use it
It covers the quick captures you would otherwise open a desktop recorder for: a bug repro, a short demo, one step of a tutorial, part of a call. Recording and saving both happen in the browser with nothing uploaded, so it fits screens holding information you would rather not hand to an online service.
What audio you capture depends on the browser and the operating system. Sharing a tab usually carries that tab’s sound, while whole-screen system audio is only available where the platform allows it. If you only need the picture, leave audio off for a smaller file.

Is my screen recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Capture and recording happen entirely in your browser using its built-in screen capture and MediaRecorder APIs. The video exists only on your device, and only you decide to download it.
What format is the downloaded video?
WebM in most browsers (VP9 or VP8 where supported), or MP4 where the browser records that instead. The file extension matches what your browser produced.
Can I record audio too?
Yes. Enable the audio option before starting. What you actually get depends on your browser and OS: typically the audio of a shared tab, or system audio where the platform allows sharing it.
What happens if I click the browser’s own “Stop sharing” button?
The recording finishes normally. The tool detects the capture ending and produces the video just as if you’d pressed Stop on the page.
Why is the record button disabled in my browser?
Screen recording needs the getDisplayMedia and MediaRecorder APIs. If your browser lacks them, the button is disabled with a notice. A recent Chrome, Edge, or Firefox works.
