How to make a QR code

When to use it
A QR code turns a link into something a phone camera opens without anyone typing it. That is why they show up on posters, packaging, business cards, menus, and the last slide of a talk. Since it is generated in your browser and saved as a plain PNG, you can drop it straight into a print or slide layout at whatever size you need.
Raise the error correction when the code will be printed small, wrapped onto a curved or textured surface, or have a logo placed over its center: the redundant data lets a scanner rebuild the missing modules. If a long URL reports as too long to encode, shorten the link rather than forcing a dense code that phones struggle to read.

Is the QR code generated on a server?
No. The code is computed and drawn onto a canvas in your browser. The text you encode is never uploaded.
What can I put in a QR code?
Any text or URL. Longer content produces a denser code; keep links short for an easier-to-scan result.
What do the error correction levels mean?
They control how much of the code can be damaged or obscured and still scan: Low ≈7%, Medium ≈15% (the default), Quartile ≈25%, High ≈30%. Raise the level if you’ll place a logo over the code, but higher levels fit less data.
Why does it say my text is too long?
The tool automatically picks the smallest QR version that fits your input, and a QR code’s capacity is finite. It shrinks further at higher error correction levels. Shorten the text or lower the error correction.
What is the margin setting?
The quiet zone: the white border around the code, measured in modules. The default of 4 modules matches the QR specification’s recommendation; setting it too low can make scanning less reliable.
Can I download the QR code?
Yes, as a PNG at the pixel size you choose (64-1024 px). It’s rendered black on white regardless of the page theme, so it stays scannable.
